TRAINING & EDUCATION PROGRAM

Teamsters Local Union No. 155 will reimburse Members in Good Standing 75% of the cost of eligible industry-applicable training and education, up to a maximum of $1,000.00 per calendar year, upon successful completion of eligible training and education.

Members may be reimbursed for any eligible industry-applicable training and education listed in this program, regardless of whether it is applicable to their division.

To be eligible for training and education reimbursement, the following conditions must be met at the time of completion:

  1. Active membership status
  2. Worked in your craft under Local 155’s jurisdiction within the last two (2) years

  • Aerial Lift and Forklift Courses
  • Anger Management
  • Canadian Red Cross Courses
  • Food Safe Levels 1 and 2
  • Gym Membership for member only (no family or dependent membership) up to maximum of $500 per calendar year. Request must be submitted annually, not monthly.
  • Hours of Service Training & National Safety Code Program Course
  • ICBC Medical Exam Processing Fee
  • Mental Health First Aid
  • Motion Picture Industry Orientation Course
  • Occupational Diving Certification and Medical Examination to Obtain or Renew Diving Certification
  • Occupational First Aid Levels 1, 2, and 3
  • PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) Courses and Swiftwater Rescue
  • Respectful Workplace Training
  • Security Worker Licence & Renewal
  • St. John Ambulance Courses
  • SVOP, SDV-BS, and VHF Radio
  • Training, Obtaining, Renewing, and Upgrading any special trade license including Driver's Licence Classes 2, 3 (with Air), 5, & 6
  • Training, Obtaining, Renewing, and Upgrading of Unrestricted Class 1 and Unrestricted Class 4 Driver Licences (with no Automatic Transmission Endorsement per application requirements)
  • WHMIS
  • Workplace Bullying

 

IMPORTANT: The list of eligible training and/or education is subject to change without notice. To ensure that you are eligible for reimbursement, please contact the office (email team155@teamsters155.org or call 604-876-8898) to confirm eligibility prior to registering for training and/or education.

REIMBURSEMENT GUIDELINES

Each calendar year allowance is paid based on the completion date of eligible training and/or education.

  • Example: If you pay for a $250 course on December 15, 2023, and successfully complete the course on January 15, 2024, $250 will be deducted from your 2024 allowance.

The deadline for training and education reimbursement requests is one (1) year after completion of eligible training and education.

  • Example: If you successfully complete a course on January 15, 2024, you have until January 15, 2025 to submit your reimbursement request.

To request reimbursement, the following documentation must be submitted to the Teamsters Local Union No. 155 office:

  1. Reimbursement Form
  2. Proof of Payment (receipt, statement, or proper invoicing from an accredited and licenced training facility including name, address, GST# and breakdown of costs)
  3. Proof of Completion (certificate, licence, diploma, statement of grades, or letter from instructor)

The reimbursement form and supporting documentation can be mailed, dropped off, or emailed to team155@teamsters155.org.

ACTSAFE SAFETY ASSOCIATION

Courses offered by Actsafe Safety Association are eligible for 100% reimbursement with the exception of Transportation of Dangerous Goods as Teamsters Local Union No. 155 offers its own TDG course (see below).  Reimbursements for Actsafe courses are still subject to the maximum $1,000 allowance.

TRANSPORTATION OF DANGEROUS GOODS

Teamsters Local Union No. 155 offers a Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) online course.  Email tdg@teamsters155.org with your Full Name, Phone Number, and Email to register for this course.  The cost for members is $16.00 and it will be deducted from the annual $1,000 allowance.

Effective February 1, 2022, TDG acquired from other providers is NOT eligible for reimbursement.

NOTE: If you decide to take training and/or education with an institution or provider that is not listed below, the institution or provider must be an accredited and licenced training facility that can provide a receipt, statement, or proper invoice that includes their name, address, GST#, and breakdown of costs.
